       More power,
   less fuel consumption.

Thanks to a software update in the engine control hub, up to 35% increase in power and up to 20% lower fuel consumption can be achieved
.

WHY DO CHIP-TUNING?

  • Improved acceleration

With chiptuning/engine optimization, it is possible to achieve a 20-30% increase in power for a car equipped with a turbo. In some cases, even an increase of up to 50%. In the case of naturally aspirated engines, the power surcharge is generally around 8%.

  • With chiptuning, we can optimize the operation of the engine so that fuel consumption is reduced by up to 20%. The faster we reach the desired speed, the more economical. Of course, the higher power comes from the fuel, while we use the maximum power maybe 1% of the whole trip, if even that. 99% of the time, the average driver drives calmly, which means that the car consumes less fuel thanks to optimization. Thus, the average fuel consumption is reduced even though the car has more power.

    Lower fuel consumption

  • Safer driving

With more power, it is possible to overtake faster. The less time we spend in the oncoming zone, the safer. There will certainly be other situations where additional power can save you from a dangerous situation. It's always good to have extra power in your back pocket or at the end of the pedal.

HOW DOES CHIP-TUNING WORK?

Modern cars are very dependent on electronics, almost everything in the car, including the operation of the engine, is controlled by it, the car's engine brain or ECU (Engine Control Unit) deals with it. Like any normal computer, it is controlled by an operating system such as e.g. Windows, the ECU is also controlled by the operating system, but they are called protocols. Just as there are different operating systems for your computer, car manufacturers have also used different protocols to control different engine brains. This can be the case with e.g. At first glance, a car with exactly the same engine but a different year has completely different software, which also requires a different chip-tuning method.

Just like your computer runs various applications and programs such as Excel, Word, etc. There are also different protocol parts running on the car's control brain, but their task is not to type text or display a video image, for example, but to monitor the various sensors of the car's engine and adjust their operation, such as the order and time when spark plugs create a spark, how long a fuel injector is open, or how much overpressure a turbo can produce. Each element is monitored and controlled separately by the motor brain, which enables today's smooth and more comfortable engine operation.

Now we can finally start dissecting what exactly chiptuning or remap really is? Chip-tuning means checking the engine parameters that your car's engine brain adjusts and then optimizing them to make your engine more powerful, economical and smoother, in other words, chip tuning is not the addition of a chip, but the optimization of the operation of your car's engine brain software.

Basically, brain programming, or chiptuning, is similar to replacing your desktop computer's operating system with a new and better one. Just as no one makes updates and major changes to your computer without backing up all the data on your computer and checking that the computer is virus-free, no decent chip-tuning company will make changes without all the original software saved and can be restored if necessary. It is also checked beforehand that your motor brain is working flawlessly and that there is no faulty signal coming from any sensors.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

So what actually changes when doing Chip Tuning?

Depending on the engine type, you can expect up to a 30% increase in power and savings in fuel consumption, especially in city driving (up to 10%).

Although at first glance it does not seem logical to increase power and reduce fuel consumption at the same time, it is realistic. Namely, the engine operation is changed so that torque is available at significantly lower revs. As a result, it is possible to rev the engine much less to achieve the same acceleration. The faster the desired speed is reached and the lower the revs, the less fuel the vehicle consumes and the safer and smoother the ride.

Is it safe and why doesn't the factory do it?

Certainly, the factory can immediately configure the vehicles to be as economical and powerful as possible, but the car manufacturer manufactures its vehicles for the international market and the conditions regarding special types of insurance, fuel quality and climate are just some of the points that engineers have to take into account when building vehicles, so they are forced to create a number of compromises. Also, software optimization is an important marketing tool for a car manufacturer. In this way, one engine can be sold on different car models, and the only difference is that the engine control brain software has been changed and a large amount of money is collected from the customer. So, for example, the difference between the Mercedes C 200 CDI and the C 220 CDI is only in the engine software. In summary, no, chiptuning is not dangerous to your car's engine.

Powerboxes, Chipboxes, Tuningboxes, what are they?

Powerbox can be considered every car owner's nightmare. In the case of chip-tuning, all the parameters necessary to optimize the operation of the engine are changed, while the powerbox only adds fuel. The result is a slight increase in power, a bunch of black smoke mufflers and an engine that will hate you forever. Most tuningboxes are just boxes with a fancy company sticker, inside which there are various resistors and electronics for a few euros, probably the most expensive and high-quality thing about the whole product is the company sticker on the box.
